Algebra 2: Make sure you are up-to-date and have turned in the Journal and the word problems packet. There is a quiz tomorrow.

Geometry: Quiz tomorrow! Also do book work pp. 239-240 #9-25 (odd). Remember when completing assignments from the book, you should:
  1. Include your name and the date
  2. Include the pages/section number and problems assigned
  3. Copy each diagram from the book. You do not need to be perfect, but you should try to sketch a good idea of the diagram.
  4. Show your work!
  5. Make sure your answer is easy for me to find and easy for me to understand. Circle/Box the answer if you want.

Algebra 2: Complete the packet on solving systems using substitution. This is due on Monday. Also expect a Journal assignment on Monday.

Geometry: Complete the Triangle Congruence Practice packet. Make sure you know what an included side or angle is, as the difference between SSA and SAS, and between ASA and AAS are important!

Pre-Calculus: Turn in your normal distribution problems on Monday, if you haven't already. You'll need the normal distribution tables to solve many of the problems. Also, read the article about polling and sampling.

Calculus: Complete at least 1 per row on the derivative practice worksheet. Skip the logs/exponential functions, we'll talk about those on Monday.

Algebra 2: Complete the practice packet on absolute value functions. Once you've read AND solved, go back and look at yesterday's graphing packet to graph the problems by hand. You'll need to be prepared on the quiz to graph both with and without a calculator. If you need even more practice, this worksheet is optional.

Geometry: Work on the new Journal assignment, that's due on Monday November 1st. Remember that we have a quiz in class tomorrow on finding missing angles in a variety of figures. The Journal is also good practice! You may work together. Remember to give a reason (keep it 1 sentence or less) for how you know the value of each angle.

Calculus: Section 3.6 #12-39 (3n).

Math Review: Work on your assignment from the folder on my desk.

Pre-Calculus: Use your textbook packet and the measures of spread handout from yesterday to calculate the standard deviation, variance, and mean deviation for each of the data sets given. I gave you tables to help you with the packet. You may certainly use calculators, but you may not rely on the graphing calculator's statistics functions....this is to be done by you!

Geometry: Finish up the pizzazz worksheets (pp. 138-140) on various types of angles, and the triangle sum theorem. You should be able to find missing angles in a variety of situations.

Pre-Calculus: No new homework. Finish up Section 14-2 #21-25 on measures of central tendency and cumulative frequency tables.. Also, here's the article on seeing the future that we talked about in class.

  • p 146 #11-16, 21, 26
  • pp. 153-4 #10-15, 20-22
The quiz is on
  1. Identifying types of angle pairs (vertical angles, linear pairs, corresponding angles, etc)
  2. Calculating missing angles when you know two lines are parallel.
  3. Deciding (and explaining why!) lines are or are not parallel, given some angles.
Pre-Calculus: Find a (relatively) current news article that uses statistics, and be prepared to discuss it in class. The article from class today about the lawsuit for possible gender-biased layoffs is one good example.

Calculus: No new homework. Be sure to finish up old assignments.

  • Copy the problem out onto separate paper. (A sketch is fine)
  • Solve for the missing values. (Don't force yourself to go in alphabetical order! Go in whatever order is easiest for solving.)
  • Write a sentence stating the property you used. (Ex: "The arc measure is the same as the measure of the central angle.")
